Gucun Park Cherry Blossoms in Shanghai: Best Time to Visit (2026)
Visit Gucun Park 顾村公园 between March 21 and April 9, 2026 for peak bloom. The 2026 Shanghai Cherry Blossom Festival officially runs March 9 to April 9, but early-bloom varieties dominate the first two weeks; the densest pink walls open in the second half. Daytime tickets cost ¥20 on weekdays. Night cherry blossom entry (after 5 PM) is ¥30, with Gate 2 staying open into the evening during peak bloom.
Go on a weekday morning to dodge crowds. Weekends turn shoulder-to-shoulder, with families staking out picnic mats by 9:00 AM. Take Metro Line 7 to Gucun Park Station; Line 15 also drops at Gate 2. Book tickets 1–3 days ahead inside Alipay or WeChat by searching 顾村公园 — both apps accept foreign Visa or Mastercard. Walk-up tickets do exist on quiet weekdays, but during festival weekends the park can sell out by mid-morning.
If the late-March peak slips because of cold weather, late-bloom varieties (sometimes labeled Kanzan or Yaezakura) still flower into the first week of April near the lake area. Don't expect the early Yoshino blossoms to last past March 25 if temperatures spike to 22°C. Bring cash or have Alipay loaded for ¥10–30 snack stalls inside the park.
